Guitar Players - Apogee GIO+Logic 9= OHHH YEAHHH!!!

Written by Tyler Winick

So if you’re a guitar player you might know that computer programs have come a long way for modeling guitar sounds and creating low budget alternatives to giant stacks and expensive amps. Basically you can just plug your guitar into a computer and rock out!! Guitar software sounds very similar if not better than real amps and can be obtained at a fraction of the cost. With the release of Logic Pro 9 Apple really added some great guitar amp solutions as well as a new pedal board.

Amp Designer and Pedalboard are two new plug-ins that give you an astonishing collection of gear. Amp Designer lets you mix and match 25 amp heads, 5 EQs, 10 reverbs, 25 speaker cabinets, and 3 mics that you can position freely around the speaker cone. So you can faithfully re-create almost any legendary sound. And Pedalboard features 30 stompboxes, all meticulously crafted to reproduce the tones and responsiveness of the originals they’re modeled after. The Pedalboard interface makes it easy to re-order and swap your pedals, and to creatively route your signal for thousands of combinations and virtually unlimited sounds. And because it all lives on your Mac, it’s easy to bring your killer sounds with you to the stage.

Now some of you may be thinking how do I control all these cool software based plugins externally to get the feel of playing a real guitar pedal board and using a real amp. The answer is simple. GIO. I looked this up when it first came out and it is the real deal. You’re able to turn pedals on and off, create complex routing and do all sorts of other cool stuff in any DAW!! Its super affordable to at a mere $395.00

GiO by Apogee is the complete guitar interface for Apple’s new Logic Studio 9, MainStage 2 and GarageBand ’09. Combining effects control, recording functions and amazing sound quality, GiO delivers total access to incredible sounding guitar amps and effects in a single foot controller and interface. Designed to work with the new Logic Studio 9 and MainStage 2, GiO allows guitar players to control recording functions, preset changes and plug-ins like Amp Designer and Pedalboard, along with new Playback and Loopback features in MainStage. With GarageBand 09, GiO is truly plug-and-play and lets users quickly connect their guitar, select and control built-in Amps and stompboxes, and record.

I would highly recommend checking this stuff out if you’re a guitar player. It just might change you life!!
