The Lennon Bus has an illustrious history as a hit maker, with chart-topping singles from The Black Eyed Peas and Fergie recorded on board. These same professional studios offer students of all ages the opportunity to participate in the creation of their own multimedia projects.
The interior is divided into three separate studio environments that can be opened to create one large studio. The front studio is a cutting-edge audio and video production room. The rear studio offers pro-level recording and mixing at the highest possible resolution, as well as an iso booth for acoustic recordings, and a Chromatte (green screen) booth. Featuring the full line of Avid audio and video solutions, the studios, powered by Apple computers, utilize Gibson and Epiphone guitars, M-Audio keyboards, Roland V-Drums, Neutrik connectors, and the latest Sony HD professional cameras. Also on board is an Avid P.A. system enabling performances on the side of the Bus.
Software is the heart of the modern recording studio and the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus boasts the best available solutions for high definition audio and video production.
In addition to being a large and comfortable lounge for viewing HD multimedia, the Front Studio is a cutting-edge audio and video production room. Incorporating the NewTek TriCaster 850 Extreme live video switcher, the Bus is configured to produce a live production of up to 8 HD cameras, with onboard discrete recording and encoding for web as well as recording uncompressed HD video through the Avid Nitris DX to the Avid VideoRAID SR. Sony robotic HD cameras, installed in all rooms of the Lennon Bus, allow the producer to follow the action wherever it takes place. Editing is performed in Avid Media Composer, color grading is made precise by the Avid Color and Transport tactile controllers, and video is graded on Sony professional HD video monitors. To complement this immense HD video production power, the Front Studio is also a fully professional audio production room featuring Avid Pro Tools, Genelec DSP-tuned 5.1 surround monitoring, and SSL mic preamplifiers.
The Rear Studio is a high-end professional audio production environment built around a fully-loaded Avid Pro Tools HDX2 recording system with Avid Artist series control surfaces. This studio also boasts Apogee conversion and clocking for recording and mixing at the highest possible resolution. Genelec monitors are DSP-tuned for optimum 5.1 surround mixing. Roland’s V-Drums and RD-700NX digital piano, M-Audio keyboard controllers, and Gibson & Epiphone instruments provide a top-of-the-line complement of ready-to-play instruments. The Rear Studio is actually two rooms which can be isolated from each other by heavy sliding glass doors. The second room is both an iso booth and a green screen video room clad entirely in Reflecmedia Chromatte fabric. The Rear Studio has 32ch of analog I/O with microphone preamplifiers from SSL, Avid and Aphex. Neutrik patchbays form the hub of this professionally designed room.
The Bus also features 8 channels of Audio-Technica 5000 series wireless systems with handheld and body-pack transmitters, ATW-A49 antennas and AEW-550C antenna distribution system. For video, the Bus utilizes Audio-Technica’s U100 series of camera-mount wireless systems.
Neutrik connectors and audio patchbays are used exclusively.
The Lennon Bus is dedicated to the production of high definition multimedia. Sony HD cameras provide the highest quality image capture and tapeless workflow from shot to finish.
The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus pulls a 17’ trailer which houses an Avid live sound system. This enables the Bus to become a self-contained venue for live concerts capable of simultaneously producing a concert, shooting multi-camera HD video for both a live video feed and editing in post while also recording multi-track audio. The Aphex 828 digital snake and 1788A remote controlled preamps allow the Bus to record 64 channels of digital audio through lightweight Neutrik OpticalCon fiber cable directly to the Avid HD I/O Pro Tools interfaces.
