Howdy y’all! In response to recent emails that I have received, I’ve decided to begin answering questions via video blogs. So, if there is anything you would like to know about the Lennon Bus, leave a comment, and I’ll get back to you when I can. Peace and love, Byron.

How To Best Celebrate John’s Upcoming 70th Birthday Anniversary

Written by Byron Hoy | Leave a Comment

With the myriad ways of commemorating a man whose legacy can be seen in music, art, and activism, I began wondering what other events may be happening October 9th, apart from those directly affiliated with the Lennon Bus. (Naturally, I began a Google search)
What I found was this recent article from USA Today, I hope you enjoy…

Montblanc and The Lennon Bus Collaborate to Support Music Education

On Sunday September 12, 2010, the Lennon Bus, and its crew, participated in the global launch of the Montblanc John Lennon Edition writing instrument at the Lincoln Center in New York City. At the very same time, in five major cities across the globe, launch parties were being held in celebration of this release of this beautiful masterpiece.

While Yoko Ono broadcast live from the event in Berlin, artists, actors, musicians, and philanthropists helped kick things off in New York. Susan Sarandon hosted the evening, and all were mesmerized by Christina Aguilera’s incredible performance of John Lennon’s inspiration anthem “Imagine”– originally composed and recorded in 1971. In highlighting John’s legacy in music and social activism, Miss Aguilera spoke of how the song resonates with her, and indicated that “Imagine” is one of her all-time favorites.

The magic of the night was immeasurable; matched only, perhaps, by the elegance and beauty that characterizes the Montblanc John Lennon Edition.

Most thrilling for me, however, was that the event marked the commencement of Montblac’s Peace and Love Tour– a program designed to give children access to music education. For this reason, Montblanc and The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus have collaborated to honor John Lennon’s life, and vision of a better world. Peace and Love.

Peace and Love?

Although living on the road has many advantages, such as the excitement, and thrill of adventure, it can also be difficult at times to find that deeper human affection one needs. Sometimes, all you need is a little hug, and it comes when you least expect it… (however, i do not condone the consumption of artificially colored/flavored sugary drinks)

Live in New York City: Mont Blanc Lennon Bus Wrap

Written by Byron Hoy | Leave a Comment

On a rainy summer day in New York City, we met up with Director Jirco Lindemann, to produce a video spot for Mont Blanc, featuring the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus. It was a surreal experience filming at locations like SoHo, Central Park, The Dakota, Times Square, and Columbus Circle! What a memorable day!

When I wasn’t helping to navigate our route through the bustling streets of Manhattan, I made sure to snap a few photos of my own to document the experience. All the photos were taken using a Sony α-900 DSLR, I hope you enjoy!

I Found Out: Pro Tools HD Training in Sunny Santa Monica

Written by Byron Hoy | Leave a Comment

Although life experience is often the best education, when it comes to Audio Production, a little hands-on instruction can dramatically minimize in-studio headaches. I recently found this out after taking an intensive course on Avid’s Pro Tools HD in Santa Monica, California.

Walking down Main Street on Thursday morning last week, I was uncertain of what to expect from the ensuing training at AudioGraph International. However, as soon as Chilitos greeted us at the door, and put on a pot of fresh Costa Rican coffee, my apprehension quickly began to fade. The learning environment was incredibly welcoming, and I no longer felt uneasy about my minimal professional training in Pro Tools HD.

From the Operator Training that I took, I gained valuable knowledge that directly applies to the audio production that we do here on the Lennon Bus. Having taken this course, I feel much more comfortable with efficiently running a session in Pro Tools. And I had a great time learning new skills!

¡Paz y Amor!

Ice Skate Epic

Written by Byron Hoy | Leave a Comment

Home to the headquarters of the Continental Army during the American Revolution, the town of Newburgh, NY is rich in American Cultural Heritage. As such, when the Lennon Bus stopped here on its off day, we three members set out on a wonderfully inconsequential exploration of not only the town, but of ourselves as well.

On that fateful evening, two memorable events occurred: I saw a groundhog for the first time ever, and discovered that Ryan can ice skate like a delicate butterfly.

Tips To Stay Cool This Summer!

Written by Byron Hoy | Leave a Comment

Today we battled extreme heat at the Warped Tour stop in Phoenix Arizona. We saw many a concert attendee fall victim to heat exhaustion. Given that it is summer, and the time of a many great music festivals, I decided to prepare this segment to help you stay cool in the summer heat. (stay tuned for how these hot effects were created using Final Cut Pro 7!)
