The John Lennon Education Tour Bus

Press Releases

Presented by Juniper Networks and Ruckus Wireless, the Week Long Tour Provides Workshops, Live Events, Human Peace Signs, and Celebrates the Betsy Hotel’s A Capella Festival

When you see John Lennon’s self-portrait gracing the side of a bus bearing the name The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, you know that local schools will be benefitting from the immersive learning experiences provided by the producer/engineers who live aboard the state-of-the-art mobile recording studio.

“John would be very proud to know that this project encourages young people everywhere to embrace their creativity, and share their ideas for peace. I am so happy to be celebrating the Bus’ 20th year,” said Yoko Ono Lennon.

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, the non-profit 501(c)(3) mobile digital media production studio (LennonBus.org), will be in South Florida for a week-long tour in Dade County from November 6-12 in association with Miami-Dade County schools.

During the week of November 6, the Lennon Bus will be working with students from Hialeah Gardens High School using a new curriculum entitled Come Together, powered by Nearpod, which is designed to get students to engage in discussions and creative activities around the initial topic - peace. The Bus will also choreograph a human peace sign and aerial photograph with students, faculty, and elected officials.

“At Nearpod, we create an interactive and inventive curriculum that prepares kids for the unique world they’re entering,” explained Guido Kovalskys, CEO of Nearpod. “It’s an honor to collaborate with the Lennon Bus and make the Come Together lessons, which will inspire students’ creativity and help kids reflect on what peace and tolerance means for them.”

On Friday, November 10, the Lennon Bus will be parked in front of the Betsy Hotel for free public tours between 5-10 PM and will be creating music and video content celebrating the fourth annual Betsy A Capella Festival (#BetsyAcaFest) culminating on Saturday night at Miami Beach High School (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-betsys-a-cappella-festival-2017-showcase-tickets-36546144502). Students will record an a capella version of the Beatles classic, Come Together, arranged by Grammy Award winner Ben Bram, in the Bus’ state-of-the-art production studios.

The Miami residency is made possible by long time Lennon Bus partner, The Betsy Hotel, along with IT providers Juniper Networks and Ruckus Wireless, whose support enables residencies designed to impact school systems and communities, working together with small, medium and large groups of students.

The Bus travels across the country year-round providing career development opportunities for students to tour the Bus, and create and produce original songs, videos, documentaries, interviews and live broadcast projects—all in 1 or 2 days. Participants are hands-on, developing projects from concept to delivery.

“This is precisely the kind of project John Lennon would have loved.”
