Gibson Showroom & Roky Erickson’s Ice Cream Social

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is locked and loaded for SXSW with public tours and sessions planned for March 15th – 17th! Don’t miss your chance to board the incredible mobile recording and video production studio that is any musician’s dream on wheels.

Tuesday, March 15th

Lennon Bus Student Recording Sessions presented by Epiphone Guitar and The Recording Academy, Texas Chapter Gibson Guitar Showroom 3601 S. Congress Ave., Ste. G400 10 am – 5 pm

The Lennon Bus is partnering with The Recording Academy, Texas Chapter and Ephiphone Guitar to bring their mission of providing hands on education in recording and video technology to students. A special group of Austin area Grammy U students will board the Lennon Bus and learn how to write, perform, record, and produce songs and music videos.

Thursday, March 17th

Roky Erickson’s Ice Cream Social 2011 – Public Tours 11am-4pm Threadgill’s 301 West Riverside Drive

The Lennon Bus will be parked outside Roky Erickson’s Ice Cream Social, joining artists such as Peter Buck, Will Sheff, J. Mascis, and Roky Erikson himself at one of the most legendary parties at SXSW. The Bus will be open for public tours from 11am-4pm and will giving away incredible prizes.

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is a non-profit state-of-the-art mobile Pro Audio and HD video recording facility that provides hands-on experiences for students of all ages. In its 14th year of touring, the venture is proud of its fully professional bus and its studios, which boast the latest audio and video technology, gear and products. The concept began as an offshoot of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, which is dedicated to providing opportunities for both professional and amateur songwriters around the world.   • Macomb Daily: Rochester Hills Teen’s “Screw Valentine’s Day” Wins Lennon Song Contest

    Olivia Millerschin got flowers and a book from her boyfriend of two years for Valentine’s Day. And a different kind of valentine on Friday from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. The Rochester Adams High School grad’s light-hearted pop song “Screw Valentine’s Day” was named the winning entry in the Lennon competition’s special Love, Love, Love contest — which Millerschin learned on Friday morning as she was exiting her English class at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.   • The Oakland Press: Rochester Hills Girl Wins Lennon Songwriting Contest

    Olivia Millerschin, 18, a Rochester Hills singer-songwriter was named winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest's special Valentine's Day competition. Her winning song is a light ditty called "Screw Valentine's Day." The special "Love, Love, Love" is a love song contest developed by the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Contest (JLSC). Millerschin's Valentine's Day-themed song was chosen based on melody, composition, originality, and lyrics.     A teenager from Metro Detroit won this month the John Lennon Songwriting Contest's "LOVE, LOVE, LOVE" Valentine's Day competition. "LOVE, LOVE LOVE" is part of the annual contest named for The Beatles member and is considered a prestigious international competition. Olivia Millerschin, 18, of Rochester Hills, is this year's winner and wrote a song called "Screw Valentines Day" that was judged by Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, George Clinton, Prince Royce and others. The increasing accessibility of digital technology has led to an amazing expansion of opportunity in the art of digital storytelling. The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus has been at the forefront of this new media explosion, having produced daily video projects with students since January of 2001. The Lennon Bus puts state-of-the-art digital video equipment into the hands of workshop participants and teaches the entire digital workflow from storyboarding to web publication and DVD burning. Students leave the experience having shot, chopped, scored, and (most importantly) finished an entire digital video production. Using the latest cameras and professional hardware/software solutions including Avid Media Composer and Pro Tools, participants are exposed to the exciting world of digital videography and learn hot techniques of the trade. The accessibility of professional-quality technology is making it possible for millions of new voices to be heard and the John Lennon Bus is putting these tools into the hands of tomorrow's great digital producers.
