Lennon Bus Announces Exciting New Partnership with Avid; Mobile Recording Studio Keeps Music Education Alive

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus and NAMM (the international music products association) are excited to announce the 2011 kick-off event on January 13th at this year’s NAMM show at the Anaheim Convention Center.  Featuring a performance by Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Natasha Bedingfield and appearances by Governor Mike Huckabee and New York Yankee Bernie Williams with remarks by NAMM CEO Joe Lamond, and Lennon Bus Executive Director, Brian Rothschild, the event showcases the work of the non-profit mobile studio that has traveled the U.S. and Canada for 14 years providing young people with free hands-on opportunities to create original music and video projects.

The Lennon Bus will also announce an exciting new partnership with Avid, the maker of award-winning video and audio production solutions used by professional filmmakers, producers, sound mixers and musicians.  The 2011 Lennon Bus studios feature a new arsenal of Avid’s top of the line solutions like the award winning Media Composer video editing solution—used on projects like Avatar, The Fighter, Black Swan and Iron Man—and Pro Tools audio recording, mixing and editing solutions used by creative teams behind acts like Green Day and Katy Perry.

“The Lennon Bus provides an amazing opportunity to help students realize their dreams, while introducing them to the same tools professionals use to create the most successful music, video and film projects in the world.” said Avid’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Ron Greenberg.  Over the years, many top recording artists have used the state of the art studios to mentor students and record their own material.  In fact, many of the tracks on the current Black Eyed Peas album, The Beginning were recorded on the Bus using Pro Tools. “We want to continue to teach and encourage the next generation of talent to create entertaining music, film and video content that inspires and entertains millions.  We look forward to doing that in our deeper partnership with the Lennon Bus.”

The Lennon Bus will also receive the starCON award from long time sponsor, Neutrik, the leading provider of professional entertainment connector systems. The Neutrik starCON award was created to recognize persons, organizations, and companies who are making a contribution to the music/recording/performing arts industries and those that it serves. The winners of the 2010 John Lennon Songwriting Contest, Madison Violet will close the event with their award-winning song.

New for 2011, the Lennon Bus app for iPhone and Droid from Mobile Roadie will make it easier than ever to keep up with the busy Bus. The app will provide users with up to the minute content from the Bus as well as localized news items and exclusive giveaways. NAMM attendees can catch minute by minute updates on Bus events at the show, as well as enter to win contests and giveaways.

Stay tuned for more on the Lennon Bus’ routing in 2011, including stops at all six of the SAE Institutes’ campuses in New York City, Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Nashville.  Pioneered in 2010, the partnership between the Lennon Bus and SAE has included the bestowing of a need-based scholarship in the namesake of Dan Brown – a student killed in the Nashville floods that year. The memorial scholarship between the two educationally focused institutions is part of an ongoing partnership in 2011.
