*Veterans Day Film Screenings & John Lennon 70th Birthday Celebration at The Betsy Hotel*

Miami, FL – November 10th, 2010 – The John Lennon Education Tour Bus will be in Miami, FL for three special events this week. Please let us know if you’d like to cover the below!

• Thursday, November 11th - Premiere screening of “Honor Our Veterans” and “Nothing Can Be Done But Something Can Be Said,” two new multi-media works that honor the contributions and sacrifices of Veterans.
Last year The Betsy brought the Lennon Bus to the Miami region for eight days to collect stories and pictures from local citizens honoring servicepersons and their families. On November 11, 2010, two video treatments of materials collected during last year’s project will be screened. One was created by and for young people by the John Lennon Bus and the other was created in association with the PG Family Foundation in New York City. Both will be accessible via YouTube for wider distribution after the official screening. The Lennon Bus will be parked at the Betsy Hotel and open for tours. Screenings are at 2pm & 7pm at the Betsy Hotel, 1440 Ocean Drive, South Beach, FL

• Friday, November 12th – John Lennon 70th Birthday Celebration
The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, The Betsy Hotel and Plum TV will be hosting a special celebration honoring John Lennon’s 70th birthday. Guests will be able to tour the Lennon Bus, watch Yellow Submarine over cocktails in the Lobby Bar, enjoy Rock archive’s “Lennon Remembered” images in the Betsy’s halls and of course celebrate with drinks and cake. This event is free and open to the public. Bus tours begin at 5pm, Cocktails begin at 7pm. B Bar at the Betsy – 1440 Ocean Drive, South Beach, FL

• Saturday, November 13th – SAE Miami Bus Visit
The Lennon Bus will be open to the public on the SAE Miami campus. Stop by for tours of the state-of-the-art mobile Pro Audio and HD video recording facility.

Video aboard the Bus

The increasing accessibility of digital technology has led to an amazing expansion of opportunity in the art of digital storytelling. The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus has been at the forefront of this new media explosion, having produced daily video projects with students since January of 2001. The Lennon Bus puts state-of-the-art digital video equipment into the hands of workshop participants and teaches the entire digital workflow from storyboarding to web publication and DVD burning. Students leave the experience having shot, chopped, scored, and (most importantly) finished an entire digital video production. Using the latest cameras and professional hardware/software solutions including Avid Media Composer and Pro Tools, participants are exposed to the exciting world of digital videography and learn hot techniques of the trade. The accessibility of professional-quality technology is making it possible for millions of new voices to be heard and the John Lennon Bus is putting these tools into the hands of tomorrow's great digital producers.
